What is direct primary care?

We believe that the physician-patient relationship is a sacred healing space. We believe that the relationship between the physician and the patient should not be polluted by the stresses of the health insurance system. We do not believe a medical director of an insurance company can make a better healthcare decision than a patient with a doctor that is listening closely.

Dr. William Greer practiced in the fee-for-service system for many years before becoming so frustrated that he had no choice but to try something new. He was frustrated about the amount of control insurance companies have over patient care decisions. He felt like his diagnostic abilities were being constrained. He had to see so many patients per day because the insurance companies were only reimbursing part of the office fee. The headaches and frustrations of being in that system were not the reason he went into medicine. He just wanted to have the time to give the best care he possibly could. Anything less than his best (which takes time) felt inadequate and dangerous.

Remember when things used to be simple? You could call your doctor’s office to ask a question, and actually talk to your doctor. When you became sick, you could be seen quickly. You could have time with your doctor to discuss your concerns without feeling rushed and ignored. We want things to be this simple again. This is why we chose Direct Primary Care (DPC).

We believe in “slow" medicine, meaning that if you slow down and listen, you can get people feeling better FASTER, mainly because you have the time to figure out what’s actually going on, rather than giving them the standard cookbook of labs, tests, referrals and medications to try.

There are a lot of doctors who are doing what we are doing, and there are even more doctors interested in joining the movement. We believe this is the optimal approach to primary care. This is a practice based on values. We are here for you. We want to work with you. We believe that you know your body best, and we have the expertise and experience to help you interpret what your body is telling you. Let’s work together.
